Kris's Story: Strong Despite Our Struggles

Hi, I am Kris. I am 54 years old and I am a Beautiful Disaster. From birth I have struggled. I was born with no heels and severely club footed. After several surgeries I was able to walk, but my feet always turned in. I experienced molestation at ages 5-6, rape at 14, bullying all 12 years of school and developed arthritis at age 15 in my hands and feet. I was also bullied for my religion which is pagan. 

I love this brand. It's so nice for us to show the world how strong we are despite our struggles. We wear it and we own it. 

Life has been a challenge. I have had 20 surgeries, cervical cancer, a heart condition and PTSD among other things. I have moved a lot, had 3 horrible marriages and survived drugs and domestic violence. 

I ended up moving away from a very violent situation and in with my oldest son and his family. 

Since moving in with my son, I have had a below the knee amputation. That was 3 years ago as of Sept 6, 2022. I just received my 6th prosthetic leg. Being an amputee comes with its own challenges, but I am able to be independent and can do everything I could before except run. I have been sharing my story to what lead to it for many years on Facebook and have helped others who are facing, have had or are new to becoming an amputee. It's so important to have support as even the word amputation is very scary. I even became a lead advocate to Congress for the state of Arizona for the Amputee Coalition. 

As for favorite BD collection, it's hard to pick just one. I think all have their own unique thing about them. I only own two shirts, a pair of pants and a pair of shorts but I would be proud to wear any collection.
