What makes you a Beautiful Disaster?
I have been through trauma and tribulations since a very young age. I have been a Social Worker for 30 years in an effort to help people in need and in hopes they would not experience the horrific things I have.

Why do you identify with the Beautiful Disaster brand?
I fell in love with this brand the very first time I saw it! I immediately related! I sincerely believe that God made me a warrior to enable me to help other warriors. I am currently a Social Worker for homeless Veterans and have dedicated 20 years of my life to serving our nation’s heroes.

Tell us your Beautiful Disaster story.
My whole world as I knew it changed into a nightmare on July 3rd, 2025. I had no symptoms and no history of medical problems. I have always suffered from anxiety and depression. On that date, I was diagnosed with Severe Heart Failure and was informed my heart is only functioning between 10–15% of its capacity. I became extremely ill and was hospitalized for 5 days.

I would consider what I experienced to be far worse than any abuse. I went from a healthy 55-year-old woman who has worked consistently since 1986 to a severely ill woman who cannot work. I am currently receiving IV heart medication via a PICC line and wearing a Defibrillator vest in the event of cardiac arrest. I have to wear both 24/7. I receive home health and take about 10 medications several times daily. I also have multiple medical follow-ups and have zero income.

What happened for you to turn it around?
I am a very optimistic person who always tries to see the good in everything. I am hopeful this treatment will strengthen my heart and I can return to some sort of normality. I feel I’ve been given a “do-over” and want to make it better than the life I had before my diagnosis.

Name 3 things you’ve done to move closer to happiness.

  1. I have renewed my faith in God. I have placed my fate in His hands.

  2. I cherish my family more and have bonded even closer to my 16-year-old son.

  3. I stay positive and spread words of encouragement daily.

I am proudly wearing my shirt today and feel it empowers me.

What is your favorite Beautiful Disaster collection, past or present, and why?
The H.O.P.E. Collection, due to my serious medical condition. I am beautiful, and I am a disaster! Thank you so much!
