Tell Us Your Beautiful Disaster Story:

I am currently in the process of a divorce from my soon-to-be ex-husband—a narcissistic, abusive man I was married to for 10 years.

When we first met, he was so nice, caring, and loving. But then he got into drugs and alcohol. He raped me and cheated on me when I got pregnant with our son. His addiction took over, and he became severely abusive, mean, and controlling for the entire marriage.

I spent years trying to make it work. I asked him to go to counseling, to get help for his addiction—but he refused. Then, last year, he tried to kill me in front of our son. Afterward, he blamed me for his arrest and felony charges.

I am so glad I had the strength to finally end the marriage and do what’s best for me and my son. Leaving an abusive relationship is incredibly hard, and I thank GOD that I am alive today to be able to tell my story.

What Happened for You to Turn It Around?

I made the decision to leave and do what was best for me and my son. It wasn’t easy. I am also in weekly therapy, learning how to slowly love myself again and regain the power of myself back.

1. I make sure to do what I want to do.

2. I put myself and my son first, before anything or anyone else.
